Help me choose - Linux or Windows?

All Tsohost hosting packages are available in both Windows and Linux flavours. Which to choose is dependent on the type of site you wish to host. To dispel a common myth, the operating system you run on your own machine has no bearing on the hosting package you choose.

Tsohost Windows packages are recommended for customers who need to host web based applications using ASP, ASP .NET or ASP .NET 2 scripting technologies, who require Frontpage Extensions and/or customers who require an MSSQL database (this is different to a MySQL database which is more commonly used). Our Windows hosting packages use the Helm control panel software.

While our Windows packages support both technologies in addition to the above, if you have a website written in the PHP scripting language or which uses a MySQL database or just a basic HTML website, we highly recommend a Tsohost Linux package. This is by far our most popular product and the most suitable for a novice user. Do not let the Linux name dissuade you - no knowledge of the server operating system is required to administer your account. Our Linux hosting packages use the cPanel control panel software.
