What is Domain Registration?

A domain name is your 'address' on the internet. For instance, www.tsohost.co.uk, www.microsoft.com and www.bbc.co.uk are all examples of domain names.

Registration of a domain name entitles you to use for your website, email (for instance joe.bloggs@thebloggsfamily.com) and any associated services for a fixed period. You can extend the registration of your domain name indefinitely subject to registry rules.

Transferring your Domain Registration

If you have a domain name registered with another provider, you can transfer it in. This will enable you to manage your domain (including contact details and DNS) as well as making any future renewals through the Tsohost panel.

We charge no fee for transfers in or out. The only requirement is that, when transferring a domain which does not end in .uk, you make a 1 year renewal at the same time. This is a registry requirement which all registars impose.

To transfer a domain registration to Tsohost, simply search for the domain using our availability checker and select the "transfer" option.

No Hidden Fees!

Unlike some less scrupulous providers, we do not charge any hidden fees. Our registration fees are inclusive of VAT and our renewal rates are the same as you pay for the initial registration.

If you decide to move to another hosting provider, we will not charge you to transfer your domain away, nor will we make it unnecessarily difficult to do so.

Domain Ownership

All domain names registered through Tsohost are registered in the legal name of the customer. We can, on request, provide proxy registrations whereby Tsohost will become the registrant contact for the domain. For further information on this service, please contact us.

WHOIS Opt-out

If your .uk registration is not being used for business or commercial activity, it is possible to "opt out" of displaying your postal address in whois output. This option can be selected when registering your domain.
